Why use a flush controller?
Unlike normal cisterns, which must be manually operated by the user, automatic cisterns are designed to flush whenever the cistern becomes full. Auto-flushing cisterns may be great from a usability perspective, but the downside is that they can end up wasting a significant amount of water - especially overnight or during the school holidays.
That’s why we always recommend installing an automatic flush controller such as the Marnic Water Watch. This clever little device uses an infrared sensor to detect when the urinal has been used; only then will it allow the cistern to fill and flush the urinal. By operating the flush only when necessary, devices like the Marnic Water Watch can save you huge amounts of money on your water bill, as well as being good for the planet.
The Water Watch also has a maintenance setting which allows the unit to be programmed to flush every 12 or 24 hours during extended periods of inactivity, such as the summer holidays. This prevents water from sitting in the cistern and becoming stagnant, reducing the risk of the standing water becoming a breeding ground for insects and pathogens.
